interventions

My expertise ranges from traditional surgery, minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery to percutaneous procedures

Below is a list of surgeries I perform most frequently:
Minimally invasive endoscopic mitral valve surgery
Surgical minimally invasive valve replacement
Surgery of the ascending aorta and aortic repair
Surgery of heart failure and arrhythmias
By-pass coronary artery surgery and all-artery revascularization
TAVI aortic valve repair (for stenosis and aortic insufficiency) with self-expanding and balloon-mounted prostheses, Valve In Valve surgery, Basilica.
Percutaneous treatment of mitral disease (balloon valvuloplasty for mitral stenosis, treatment of perivalvular leaks, MitraClip, Cardioband, transapical and transseptal valve replacement, valve in valve, valve in ring, valve in mac, lampoon, elasta, batman)
Percutaneous treatment of tricuspid disease (TriClip, Cardioband, percutaneous valve replacement, valve in valve, valve in ring)
Surgical and percutaneous pulmonary valve replacementSurgery and percutaneous interventions of adult congenital disorders (DIA, PFO, DIV, Ebstein,

non-invasive valve interventions

MitraCLip

I have performed and supported other physicians in performing over 1400 MitraClip interventions since 2007. This video explains how the device works for demonstration purposes.

Triclip G4: the clip version for the tricuspid valve

Finally this device is avaliable for most hospitals. I have performed about 100 tricuspid clip procedures since 2015. It is not easy but in experienced hands and in good selected patients we obtain excellent outcomes

Cardioband tricuspid

A device that allows implantation of a ring similar to those implantable with open heart surgery, but with a non-invasive approach, using a catheter. A device that I helped develop, first for the treatment of the mitral valve, and then for the tricuspid valve

TAVI with balloon expandable valve

from the Edwards Lifesciences website, an animation of the implantation of a state-of-the-art expandable balloon valve

TAVI with the self-expandable valve EVOLUT

From the Medtronic Site, a demonstration video of a next-generation self-expandable aortic valve implant

TAVI with the self expanding prosthesis PORTICO

From the ABBOTT Site, a demonstration video of a next-generation self-expandable aortic valve implant

TAVI for aortic insufficiency

The Trilogy valve is the only TAVI prosthesis specifically designed for the percutaneous treatment of aortic insufficiency. A unique prosthesis, it is available only in a few centers in Europe, including San Raffaele in Milano.
